Dear fellow members:
MWA/NYPL monthly library programs are planned through May but will resume in the fall. They take place at the convenient Mid-Manhattan branch and are a great opportunity to meet and greet enthusiastic readers and create word of mouth.
Contact us: There is NO way we can know all of you and the stories you are telling, and we do not want to constantly call on the same small (and wonderful) active group.
Contact us: If you would like to do a special-event library program in Westchester in April or Rockland County in October. Both librarians tell us they have large and excited audiences and local booksellers are involved.
Contact us: If you are an active status member of the NY chapter and would like to be on a panel in fall, 2013. And tell us when you’d like to do it, if you have timing in mind. Do you have a book coming out? Will you be out from under a deadline or a family event? Do you have a panel topic to suggest?
You get the idea. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
MWA is the premier organization for mystery writers, professionals allied to the crime writing field, aspiring crime writers, and those who are devoted to the genre. MWA is dedicated to promoting higher regard for crime writing and recognition and respect for those who write within the genre. We provide scholarships for writers, sponsor symposia and conferences, present the Edgar Awards, and conduct other activities to further a better appreciation and higher regard for crime writing.
MWA also works to educate writers and those who aspire to write regarding their rights and interests, and to make writers and readers aware of matters which may affect crime writing through legislation, publishing industry practices, judicial decisions, or in other ways. Our membership includes writers of books, short stories, plays, and screenplays; publishers, editors, agents, librarians, booksellers, and other in allied fields; aspiring writers and others devoted to crime writing.
Membership is open to the public, and you need not reside in the U.S. to join. MWA is a nonprofit organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
If you live in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut or Delaware joining MWA will make you a member of our very active chapter. We hope you'll join us!
